Version 8 - You can now export a folder as CSV or JSON and import it back into Ratings. CSV is handy for spreadsheets, while JSON includes your images too, making it the more complete backup option. Before importing, the app checks the file and shows you how many ratings it contains. It keeps your existing ratings, so importing the same file twice will add duplicates. If you fancy a clean slate, long-press to find the administration screen and its new delete all data option. There’s a confirmation before anything is removed, but this does clear every folder and rating, including their images, and syncs those deletions to your other devices through iCloud. ...

This release (v7) makes it easier to reorganise your library. You can now merge albums and move images around. There’s a bug fix for Mac too: the edit tags popup now scrolls. There are also a handful of little tweaks, like clearer wording on some features and better alerts for deletion. I’ve also added a little animated iCloud icon to the main view. For those interested, the app uses SwiftData from Apple, which makes syncing across devices work automagically. Its main weakness is that there isn’t much information available through the API. The icon simply lets you know that iCloud is happily working away in the background. It’s a handy little reassurance that everything is still syncing and probably just needs a bit more time. ...

A little quality of life feature for this release (v8), rest timer notifications. All local to the device, if you minimise the app you now get a little ios notification letting you know when you rest is done. Navigation is greatly improved in this release (v6). Previously each view was discarded as you navigated around, which helped with memory but it meant if you’d scrolled down before clicking into an album or image, navigating back would recreate the view and you’d have lost your place. Thanks to a better data model the navigation is now a more typical push/pop stack, so you go back to exactly were you where. ...

There was a focus on performance for this v5 release as well as some nice little quality of life features. The slideshow is now smart and only gets the full res image for the current and prev/next, so it’s much quicker to load that view as well being more memory efficient. There’s a new little settings menu that allows you to set the masonry image size (small, medium, large) and the a button for setting cover images which helps scrolling on larger collections. ...

The notes feature in Chapters had kind of been niggling at me, and I think i’ve made significant improvement to the feature. Now you can see three lines be default instead of just two which I think is a big help on it’s own. But if you want to easily refer to a long one now you can swipe from the leading edge and expand and collapse a complete note which I think makes them super helpful. ...

Slideshow, which i thought I’d fix in the last version is now actually fixed. When swiping around it would sometimes jump back to the beginning or a random index. With the help of Claude this was completely refactored and it’s now just like swiping in Apple photos, delightful. Another small quality of life feature, when you create a tag album, if you don’t give it your own name it will just use the tags you select as the album title which is nice, and you can now pick a cover image for the tag album seperately. I’m thinking about adding more than just ‘and’ logic into tag albums so you could create an album that is all of one person but not wearing black for example. Might be fun to have. ...

There’s been a hard to track down bug relating to loading the data in the app that I think I’ve finally squashed. Your exercises and workouts and stored as json files in an icloud drive. This keeps them safe, backed up and syncable when you move phones. However sometimes (particularly after a phone update) the file isn’t ready to read when the app loads. So the app start, tries to get file from icloud which triggers downloading it, but doesn’t always get it and it looks like you’ve lost your exercises. ...

I’ve received some new and lovely reviews for my wee fitness app, along with some kind and patient bug reports which was what the last release was about. For this version, 0.6, added a nice interval timer feature. Now in during workouts, tap the ‘Rest’ button and you can switch to an interval timer. Interval Timer It has 3 presets you can adjust, with a customisable countdown too to give you time to get in position. Between each interval I added some little sound effects and haptic feedback as I figure you’re likely to put your phone on the floor or pocket. Apple had a new age requirement field that needed to be updated, but you had submit a new build to update the app store listing itself. So this release (0.7)  Ratings in App Store was for that, the rebuild does mean it’s now all liquid glass like though for that iOS26 look and feel.
